Superintendent Hamlett,

"...Linda’s work is exemplary. From the time my son Maxwell started high school, Linda provided a constant, expert, and compassionate resource for our family. As Max graduates this semester, our family reflected on people who made a difference to Max.   He could have easily fallen through the cracks, and at one point, we questioned if he could stay in school.  There were many wonderful teachers and staff members. But the individual who stood out at making a critical difference in his success in the face of complex challenges was Linda Karcher. Linda was accessible, informed, reliable, and her office served as a refuge for Max on several very difficult occasions. Here is what Max had to say to her in a message sent this week (shared with Max’s permission),

“Ms. Karcher, you've helped me so much through high school.  Words cannot describe how grateful I am.  I am finishing high school off with a very promising future ahead of me.  I've been accepted to 8 colleges so far! (I haven't been denied from one yet!)  From colleges in New York like Bard and The New School to the University College of Dublin in Ireland.  I have a lot to think about in the coming months about where I wanna go and what I wanna do. But as always, I am forever hopeful.  And I could not have done it without you.  From the bottom of my heart, thank you.”

"I worked with Linda for almost ten years at Carrboro High School and I can't say enough about how wonderful she is with students, parents, and teachers. Linda is one of the most caring and dedicated professionals I had the pleasure of working with while at CHS. She uses her therapeutic and yoga background to help students cope with the many challenges of high school and I'm so happy she is continuing to use her expertise, kindness, and calming nature to advocate for students with disabilities. I whole-heartedly recommend her services!"
